“People rarely succeed unless they have fun in what they are doing.” – Dale Carnegie

And honestly, that’s exactly how I felt the first time I properly understood what a modern washing machine can do.

Let me tell you a quick story. A customer once walked into the shop and asked me, “What’s the difference between a 7kg and a 10kg washing machine, really?”
It sounds like a simple question, but that conversation turned into a full-blown chat about kids’ football kits, king-size bedding, and steam programs that cut down on ironing.
You’d be surprised how much these machines can actually do—if we ask the right questions.

So… write your questions down. That’s what this post is about.
I’ll take you through what I usually explain in-store—just in case you’ve ever looked at a washing machine and thought, “I have no idea what any of this means.”

What Does a Bosch Washing Machines 10KG Capacity Actually Mean?

Let’s start with the basics. A 10kg washing machine isn’t just for massive families.
Think of it this way: king-size duvet cover, fitted sheet, mattress protector, and two pillowcases?
That’s your 10kg load right there.

No more stuffing the machine and hoping it spins properly.
It’s perfect if you want to do fewer loads, or if your laundry basket always seems full (guilty!).

Smart, But Simple: Bosch’s Eco Wash

Bosch has this program called the Eco Wash, part of its energy-efficient settings.
Now, I know “eco” settings usually make people roll their eyes because they take longer—
But here’s the thing: you still get your full spin speed (up to 1400 RPM), and you can tweak the temperature from 40° to 60°. Reference the Bosch Serie 6 10kg on tommiekelly.ie for more info.

So it’s flexible and economical. Not bad, right?

Real Life Washes: Cotton & Mixed Load

The Cotton cycle is your workhorse. It can handle the full 10kg load, and it’s smart enough to let you choose anywhere from a cold wash all the way up to 90°.
Think: school uniforms, bedding, bath towels. You name it.

But what if you just want to wash a few bits after a trip to the gym or the beach?
That’s where Mixed Load comes in.
It’s set up for a 5kg wash, runs at 40°, and finishes in about an hour and 18 minutes.
That’s fast, efficient, and easy to fit into a busy day.
(And yes, you can still crank up the heat to 60° if needed.)

Quick Washes That Actually Work

I love these: two speedy options—30 minutes for 4kg and 15 minutes for 2kg.

Let’s say the kids come home with chocolate all over their t-shirts,
or you spill something on your top just before heading out.
Throw it in for 15 minutes.

Just remember to cut back on detergent. A quick wash doesn’t need a full scoop.

The Stuff Nobody Talks About: Filters & Fluff

Here’s the truth. Every now and then, coins, bobbins, or a rogue hair clip will end up in the filter. It happens.
But instead of calling in a repair service, all you need to do is:

  1. Drain the water (there’s a little hose for that)

  2. Pop open the filter panel

  3. Clear it out

  4. Close it back up

Easy. A two-minute job that can save you a lot of hassle.

Ironing. But Easier.

Now for something a bit cool—the Iron Assist program.
No, it doesn’t magically do your ironing (I wish), but it does make it easier.

It uses steam to relax the fabric on up to five shirts.
I’ve tried it on dress shirts and it actually helps.
Just hang them straight away and you’ll cut your ironing time in half.
That’s a win in my book.

The Takeaway

Whether you’re choosing a new washing machine or trying to get more out of the one you’ve got, the key is knowing what it can do.
That means asking questions—real, practical ones.

Like:

  • Can I fit all my bedding in this?

  • What’s the fastest wash that actually cleans?

  • How do I stop wasting energy when doing smaller loads?

And if you’re not sure, come in and ask. Or email. Or even drop your questions in the comments of a post like this.
We’re here to help, not to sell you something you don’t need.

Because let’s face it—no one wants to spend more time thinking about laundry than they have to.

Unless, of course, it saves you time later.
